While the logging carriage always need to move away to pick up the wood and this distance can be out of line of sight when working on convex terrain. The operator site inside the cab need to observe a video screen about the logging carriage so that he can operate the logging machines safely and efficiently. Background
Shovel yarders always work in place when the terrain is a severe convex slope. The logging machines operator sits in a cab, and the grapple carriage runs on a cable away, typically out of sight of the operator. The cable yarder operator need a real time HD video screen to monitor the logs and the carriage work along the cable when working on convex terrain to enable the machine to work with high standards of efficiency.
Challenge
● The cable is always hundreds of meters to 1000meters length, and the logging cart is fast moving along the cable for picking up and yarding the logs. Cameras are fixed on the logging carriage for capturing the video of log grapple. These living video needs to be stably transmitted displayed to operator in cable yarder cab.
● The cable yarders often work in steep terrain with a slope. When the grapple carriage move to the other side of the slope, the wireless signal will be blocked. In this way, the wireless video transmitter need to send video signals over severe convex terrain to receiver side.
● During working, the grapple carriage collide with trees all the time, so the tx antennas need to be small and the video transmitter need to be strong and rough.
Solution
●IWAVE long range wireless video link is special designed for out line of sight hd video transmitting during dynamic moving. When the cable yarding system work in line of sight distance, install a transmitter on grapple carriage and receiver on operation cab.
When the cable yarder works with steep slope, install the repeater in a good position on the slope, then the signal now goes from transmitter to repeater to receiver. In this solution, the wireless communication path is dynamic. The signal will automatically choose the better transmission path to send the video to receiver depends on the signal strength: directly from Tx to Rx, or Tx to Repeater to Rx.
