Background

According to the [2010] No.146 file- construction of the coal mine underground safety risk “six big system” issued by the national coal mine security bureau, all the mine enterprises need to guarantee personnel can be notified in time and a reliable communication link for the risk-averse personnel during disaster period. Each mine enterprises need to construct and improve the mine communication system.

Coal mine industry has always been one of the pillar industries in China. Because of the severe underground working environment for miners, safety accidents often happen, which brings great loss of life and property to the society and people.

The mining enterprise needed a more reliable network with wider coverage, better indoor nlos coverage, and the ability to support advanced features and functionality.

The new system had to be capable of delivering reliable, consistent coverage up to a 5km radius of mine field to deliver hd surveillance video streaming and real time voice communication between command center and underground miners.

Besides the reliable and seamless communications between the surface and underground areas of operation. DHW also wanted the ability to track personnel inside the mine tunnels.

The DHW mining enterprise also needed rugged and durable wiress radio units able to operate safely and continuously in the high humidity and wet working environment of the mines. 

Solution

IWAVE selected command and dispatching system, 2x2 MIMO manpack IP MESH and handheld type ip mesh radios based on UHF. The bodyworn camera provides video capture, GPS and voice communication.

The bodyworn camera will be wirelessly connect with MESH Radios via WIFI within 10meters rang. One MESH node support multiple units bodyworn camera to access. In this way, only one member carry the MESH node, other people around him can communication with people on surface with video and voice.

The command and dispatching system will be installed in the monitor center on surface. With it officers will know who is speaking and where is him in real time.
